History: Founded in 1952 as Sully Buttes Telephone Cooperative, Venture Communications has been delivering connectivity to rural South Dakota for over 70 years. The cooperative expanded steadily over the decades and rebranded in 2002 to reflect a broader commitment to advanced telecommunications. In 2007, we began deploying Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) technology and reached a fully fiber-optic network across our entire service area by 2019. That same year, we partnered with the South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) to further expand fiber connectivity to underserved rural areas near Pierre, Miller, Huron, and Fort Pierre.
