VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES
Ryan Punt appreciates the importance of good relationships in conducting business. He strives to build a high level of trust with his clients.
He also tries to keep up to date with advances in telecommunications.
“I very much enjoy the sales world and the sales field,” he says. “I also very much enjoy the technical aspects of networks and the connectivity that carriers and businesses use SDN’s network for.”
Punt has been with SDN Communications in Sioux Falls for nearly nine years. He started in January 2006 in commercial sales and moved to the wholesale team in November 2012. He was promoted to vice president of sales three years later.
Punt, 39, grew up in Stickney, S.D. He attended Mitchell Technical Institute and earned a degree in telecommunications in 1997.
After finishing school, he spent about two more years in Mitchell selling business supplies. Then he got into telecommunications.
Beginning in mid-1999, he started working in sales for Northern Valley Communications in Aberdeen. Northern Valley is a subsidiary of James Valley Telecommunications of Groton, which is an SDN member company.
Punt and his wife, Nikki, have two daughters in elementary school: Bailey and Rylee. Punt’s wife, Nikki, is a teacher.
When he’s not working, Punt enjoys spending time with family members; they like to camp and travel.
What strikes him the most about his first 15 years working in telecommunications is the steadily increasing amount of electronic information moving on networks. He does not foresee any letup in demand.
