Sales Development Representative

Pay status: Non-exempt

Hours: Usually Monday-Friday 8-5, with some overnights and weekends.

Reports To: Jon Clayborne, Commercial Sales Manager

Position summary

As a Sales Development Representative (SDR) at SDN Communications, you will play a crucial role in driving our sales efforts. Your primary responsibility will be to identify and qualify potential leads, set up meetings for the sales team, and help build a robust sales pipeline. Key responsibilities

  • Lead Generation
    • Identify and research potential leads through various channels
    • Utilize outbound sales techniques such as cold calling and emailing
    • Attend industry events and trade shows to network and gather potential leads
  • Qualification
    • Conduct initial qualification calls with prospects to assess their needs, budget, and decision-making process
    • Maintain detailed records of interactions and progress in the CRM
  • Collaboration
    • Work closely with the sales team to understand their needs and objectives
    • Schedule meetings and appointments for the sales team with qualified prospects
    • Provide detailed information to the sales team about the prospects and their requirements.
    • Coordinate with marketing team to align sales strategies with marketing campaigns
  • Reporting
    • Prepare regular reports on lead generation activities, progress and outcomes
    • Present findings to Commercial Sales Manager

Education and/or experience

  • Experience in a customer-facing role is a plus but not required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and nurture relationships
  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with CRM software and other sales tools is beneficial
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field is preferred but not required

Other qualifications

  • Willingness to travel, including some overnight trips
  • Proficiency with Google products, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • A current driver’s license and a good driving record

Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery (BCDR)

You are expected to participate in SDN's Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery program by being knowledgeable about SDN's BCDR Program, actively participate in BCDR drills and exercises, and may be assigned various duties in response to business emergencies (and establishing / executing priorities, responses and recovery activities in the event of a service disruption).
