Summary

The network technician for the optical transport team will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring the telecommunications network, equipment, and applications that support carrier grade infrastructures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains basic network operations and provides assistance to network engineers.
  • Manages inbound support calls and creates trouble tickets for issues.
  • Performs network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems.
  • Assists users with network technical support and modifications.
  • Contacts customers regarding issues or problems with their services.
  • Monitors network equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Monitors environmental alarms and reports trouble to appropriate areas of the company.
  • Maintain work queue for provisioning / configuration for new orders / services.
  • Ability and desire to share knowledge / experiences within a team environment.
  • Coordinating emergency and routine maintenance with customers and vendors.
  • Identifies and replaces malfunctioning or inoperative equipment, such as circuit cards or processing units, and performs repairs and preventative maintenance.

Education and/or Experience

No experience is required as SDN is willing to train the right individual. Previous work experience in a related technical field or secondary education is desired, but not mandatory.
