With most South Dakota elementary schools back in session, fourth graders across the state will be learning about South Dakota history this year.
The students located in SDN’s member company territories will receive a surprise this year: My South Dakota Book: Hometown Snapshots. The book, designed and published by SDN Communications, is a fun, colorful, picture book highlighting the cultural and historical value of even our smallest communities with trivia, activities, maps and personalized photo areas.
My South Dakota Book is a source of pride for SDN Communications.
Even though we're now a technology company reaching into eight states, we're very proud our South Dakota beginnings. This project was an effort to instill home state pride in South Dakota's youth.
We never imagined the success it would deliver:
• Now in its second edition, it's been put in the hands of 11,000 children.
• The reaction from adults has surprised us. They tell us they love learning more about their state.
• Grandparents want to send to their out-of-state grandchildren so they can understand this beloved state.
