Cisco recently commissioned a study – the Cisco Connect World Report - to gain insight into the growing trend of a mobile workforce.
The results of the study showed that three in five workers around the world believe that they do not need to be in the office to be productive. The desire to have more flexible schedules was so strong that many workers would opt for lower pay if it meant increased flexibility and greater work-life balance. Employees surveyed said that the freedom to work outside of the traditional office setting dictates company loyalty (13 percent), choice of jobs (12 percent), and morale (9 percent).
However, almost half of the IT respondents (45 percent) said they are not prepared technology- and policy-wise to support a more mobile workforce. The top concerns are security (57 percent), budget (34 percent) and staff expertise (17 percent).
