Last week, Microsoft informed all of its cloud-based Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS) customers of a limited breach in its security. A configuration error temporarily allowed unauthorized access to customers' offline address books. Only a small number of illegal downloads occurred and Microsoft is working directly with those affected to remedy the situation. This error brings to light the need for companies using cloud computing to implement robust security policies and strategies.
