The tornado that hit Delmont on Mother’s Day is a good reminder of why it’s important to keep a landline phone in your home and business.

Even if there is no power, landline phones will continue to work in homes and businesses not touched by the damage. But the phone needs to be plugged into a jack - not a cordless phone or one that relies on electricity.

Plus, the landline phones will not get overloaded in an emergency event.

Following the Wessington Springs tornado in 2014, both Midstate Communication and Venture Communications maintained landline telephone service during and after the tornadic events. Trio Tel also kept phone service functioning during the 1999 Spencer tornado.
